My initial commitment was three months. When the time came to leave, I could not.

I had planned this as a short chapter — three months, do good, move on. But somewhere between the morning assemblies and the late-night planning sessions, this place became something I did not expect. The team, the community, the small victories — they added up. When my coordinator asked if I wanted to extend, I said yes before she finished the sentence. I am now six months in. The work is hard and the hours are long, but I cannot imagine having been anywhere else.
